Stellar Cyber Welcomes Cybersecurity Star Barmak Meftah as an Advisor to Their Board of Directors – CPO Magazine

Barmak Meftah, a prominent leader in the cybersecurity industry, is joining Stellar Cyber — the key innovator of Open XDR. Meftah is the Co-founder and General Partner of Ballistic Ventures and was formerly President of AT&T Cybersecurity and President and CEO of AlienVault.
Other notable positions that led to his current role have been in management while he was employed at Hewlett-Packard, Synchron, Fortify Software, and Oracle.
Stellar Cyber has been developing Open XDR technology since 2015. Their current product is already at the forefront of the cyber industry because it solves many key issues that companies which want to secure their assets deal with nowadays.
The main issues that companies need to combat include:
Businesses have to invest in a wide variety of cyber solutions from different vendors to cover the entire attack surface.
Security tools are often not compatible with one another and can’t be integrated into a single system. For teams, this means that they have to track alerts coming from numerous solutions.
Considering that cyber divisions are understaffed in many companies, complex systems used for detection and response make their jobs more difficult.
Open XDR is a model that utilizes AI and combines the capabilities of the most popular security tools in a single product.
It also allows a comprehensive overview of the attack surface from a single dashboard. As a result, teams aren’t overwhelmed with alerts and have data that is organized with artificial intelligence.
Other experts in the field have been shifting towards Stellar Cyber products as well:
“We adopted AlienVault a couple of years ago because it was the NG-SIEM pioneer and market leader, and it performed well for us,” said Joe Morin, CEO of CyFlare. “We adopted Stellar Cyber because it unifies SIEM, SOAR and NDR and it makes our analysts more productive.”
Meftah’s new role in the company is going to cover two key areas — marketing and product development.
Regarding product development, Meftah had always wanted AlienVault to evolve into an open platform. “At AlienVault, we delivered an excellent product to unify appropriate security components and make detection and response super-easy and accessible. In addition, we always had the vision to be an open platform and integrate with customers’ existing security stack,” said Meftah. “Today this vision has emerged as Open XDR, and Stellar Cyber is at the forefront of this accelerating trend. I’m thrilled to help advise the company as it continues to innovate and rapidly grow market share.
If we step back and observe Stellar Cyber’s decision to onboard Meftah in the overall context of the cybersecurity industry, it’s safe to say that the company also opened the door to major innovations in the field.
As he continues his work as part of Stella Cyber, Meftah’s hands-on contribution could have a major role in shaping the next generation of cyber technology.
We are headed towards a continually improved platform of gathered and managed cybersecurity tools that facilitate and simplify the work of analysts and strengthen the defenses of businesses that rely on these solutions.
Changming Liu, CEO and Co-Founder and CEO of Stellar Cyber, says, “Our ability to attract a cybersecurity rock star like Barmak Meftah as an advisor to our Board is a testament to our vision and market leadership.  His leadership experience at AT&T and AlienVault and his current role as an investor focusing on cybersecurity are invaluable to us. We are excited to inject his insights into our strategy sessions and carry out his vision of building an open and intelligent platform to democratize cybersecurity.”
